Gideon Evangelical Ministries has hosted the BIG meal once again in 2010. Needy children from their local area were invited to come and eat together to celebrate Christmas and to enjoy stories, food and drinks together.

Did you know?

Did you know that there are more people living in India than the population of the whole of Africa and the whole of South America combined? India's population currently stands at approximately 1.15 Billion (2008). Take a look at the world outline map below and check out the relative land masses of the three continents, you will see that India is by far the smallest of the three but India's population is enormous in comparison to Africa and S. America.

Leprosy suffers receive more food supplies:
After a short prayer of thanks, this group of people who are suffering from leprosy are supplied with some rice, dall and oil so that they can cook their traditional curries. Mission International's plan is to find regular support for these folks so that they can receive food thus allowing them to live without begging on the streets. The long term plan is to put in place income generating projects which will allow them to produce enough income to live and look after their families.

Rural village receives support:

One rural village in India was cheered this Christmas by the arrival of Pastor Nathaniel Vara Prasad and his wife Beulah, who carried with them sacks of foodstuffs and clothing after receiving a grant from Mission International's BIG Meal. The village of Padmanabanagar, Visakhapatnam city area Andhara Pradesh is home to a large number of families affected by leprosy. Most of their life is spent begging to find food and any other support they can find. Pastor Nathaniel has been working amongst the people of this village for some time and was delighted to be able to arrive at Christmas time with the food and clothing.

Pastor Nathaniel leads the group in a short prayer of thanksgiving to God before they all receive their Christmas gifts of food and clothing.
The distribution continues until everyone has received their gifts.

Pastor Nathaniel Varaprasad is a quiet hardworking man whose life is given over to the service of God and the people to whom he is called by God to serve. Nathaniel and his wife Beulah serve remote communities near the town of Visakapanam in India's Andhra Pradesh region on the country's eastern seaboard. Their call is to minister to their community no matter who the recipients are, whether prisoners or those with leprosy, of the parts of the community rejected by the rest of society, but who need to know the great love of God through Christ Jesus, and who need to be aware that He cares for them.

Below Pastor Nathaniel surveys a consignment of food and supplies provided for the needy.

Gifts and support is provided for those with horrific sores due to leprosy. Much support is need to provide help for these people, showing God's love and proclaiming the Good News!

There are many lepers still in India, this is a treatable disease and those who suffer from it can gain a lot of help from simple and basic supports.

There are also many children with leprosy or whose parents suffer from the disease who are in great need, if you would like to sponsor a child affected by leprosy please donate below.
